FIELDPRO Migration Manager

Welcome to the FIELDPRO Data Migration Manager

This application is dedicated to the successful migration of your data from any data source into FIELDPRO, and the successful output of data that is stored in FIELDPRO to any data source or format that you require.

The interface is divided into three sections. You can select the page that you wish to view in the toolbar and you will see the relevant information for that page:

Parser Configuration File (PCF) Manager – This page allows you to maintain a list of Parser Configuration Files (PCFs) that you wish to have available to perform migrations. All migrations to/from external data sources are based upon these PCFs. The PCFs contain a set of instructions for the FIELDPRO Data Migration Manager that describe how the migrations should be performed.

Note: You can find a Parser Configuration File (PCF) Description in this documentation for further information about updating or editing these files.

Migration Schedule – This page allows you to review all migrations that are currently pending or scheduled to be performed.

Note: In order for a scheduled migration to be performed, either the FIELDPRO Data Migration Manager application or service must be running at the scheduled time.

Migration Log – This page allows you to review all migrations that have already been performed, whether they were started manually or performed on a schedule.

Start Service at Power Up – The FIELDPRO Data Migration Manager can be run as a simple application, or it can be run as a system Service. This option will activate the FIELDPRO Data Migration Manager every time you restart your system, ensuring that the system is always running whenever your system is running.

Note: This option is critical to ensure that scheduled migrations are executed according to plan (the system must be running in order for the migration to be performed).

On the left hand side of each of the pages are expandable sections of options. Some of the options are specific to a particular page. However, some of them are common:

Import Actions:

Import from 4Phi (xxp) – This option will launch the FIELDPRO Express Import Wizard, which will take you through the steps required to import data from a standard 4Phi (xxp) file.

Import from FIELDPRO Database – This option will launch the FIELDPRO Check In Wizard, which will take you through the steps required to import data from another FIELDPRO database.

Import from External Database – This option will launch the FIELDPRO Import Database Wizard, which will take you through the steps required to import data from any external database (SQL Server, Access, Oracle, Sybase etc.) format data source.

Import from Excel – This option will launch the FIELDPRO Import Excel File Wizard, which will take you through the steps required to import data from any external Microsoft Excel format file.

Import from Flat File – This option will launch the FIELDPRO Import File Wizard, which will take you through the steps required to import data from a standard flat file format.

Export Actions:

Export to 4Phi (xxp) – This option will launch the FIELDPRO Express Export Wizard, which will take you through the steps required to export data to a standard 4Phi (xxp) file.

Export to FIELDPRO Database – This option will launch the FIELDPRO Check Out Wizard, which will take you through the steps required to export data to another FIELDPRO database.

Export to External Database – This option will launch the FIELDPRO Export Database Wizard, which will take you through the steps required to export data to any external database (SQL Server, Access, Oracle, Sybase etc.) format.

Export to Excel – This option will launch the FIELDPRO Export Excel File Wizard, which will take you through the steps required to export data to any external Microsoft Excel format file.

Configure Security – This option launches the Configure Security dialog that allows you to configure how the source of the license for the FIELDPRO Data Migration Manager.
