A. READ, RESPECT, RESPOND
Any e-mail sent by me, Dima, or Michael merits a RESPONSE! This response should come within a reasonable period of time. RESPONSES (ESPECIALLY TO CLIENTS) MUST BE WITHIN 24 HOURS! ONLY use your @RESnet account for work e-mails! You should copy fieldpro or support on e-mails sent to clients! If you alone receive an e-mail, immediately forward/copy it to all! Sign your Name and e-mail ONLY (no phone or company name)! All written communication must be in English (even within O2)!
In your response to e-mails, NEVER delete sections of the e-mail that was sent to you: you must preserve all content of original mails!
B. THERE IS ONLY ONE PRODUCT: FIELDPRO!
There is only ONE PRODUCT that we are selling: FIELDPRO! NO ONE is an FPM-only or PORPRO-only programmer! You may only happen to WORK on PORPRO or FPM, but EVERYTHING you do must have the FIELDPRO SYSTEM in mind!
C. THERE IS ONLY ONE TEAM.
You are ONE TEAM so work TOGETHER! You have a hierarchy of Head Chefs now, but you are all working towards one goal!
D. YOU ARE ALL RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN PERFORMANCE!
I will know who is working on what based on the task tracking system, and if something is not delivered, I will know whom to blame!
E. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE TO COMMUNICATE WITH ME!
MAKE SURE that I am informed of what you are doing and of any delays that are occurring. The task procedure and the concept and position of Head Chef are intended to HELP to make this EASIER for you and me!
It is YOUR responsibility to deliver what is in your task list. "I told someone and he did not pass it on" is NOT ACCEPTABLE! YOU should MAKE SURE that I have received and confirmed my feedback on ALL communications! If you discover that a task will be delayed (e.g., someone asks you to implement a new "urgent" task, your time estimate was wrong, or a task assigned to you should be assigned to someone else) you should IMMEDIATELY e-mail everyone (Minsk, Me, DWK & MPC) informing us about it!
F. THIS IS WAR
Business is war! I am the front line. If you don't provide me what I need, when I need it, I will be the first to be killed (by the client). You will all be dead very quickly thereafter. If I give you a deadline to produce a task, DELIVER! If you figure out that you are NOT going to be able to deliver, explain WHY ASAP (according to the procedure below) so I can avoid going into battle unarmed!
G. I AM ALWAYS "AVAILABLE"!
Even if you don't see me on AIM, I AM AVAILABLE! EVEN IF I AM TRAVELLING, I AM AVAILABLE! Check with me before making any major changes! I must be involved in, or at least informed about all decisions related to the user interface!
If there is something urgently required for a client and I am not responding, the Head Chefs can take a decision to can get this done without my approval but you MUST inform me about this decision and this kind of thing must be a very exceptional occurrence!!!
H. I GET THE FINAL SAY: MY DECISIONS STAND!
If you disagree with anything, if or if you do not understand something, SAY SO! I ENCOURAGE you to send me your proposals. I don't mind if you tell me that you disagree with or don't understand my opinion or idea or proposal or schedule: I have NO problem with admitting I am wrong (IF I AM wrong). I WANT to get your input and feedback and proposals.
If you STRONGLY disagree with something, I don't mind your repeatedly telling me WHY but I will NOT tolerate being ignored. NOTHING "sets me off" more than that. If there is a REASON that anyone thinks I'm wrong, they should STATE IT! I have no problems defending my ideas, and if they are wrong, correcting them, or at least modifying them based on the feedback. In fact, when people give me feedback, it is healthy because it allows me to question myself on details I may have missed. Once I make a decision, however, that decision MUST "STAND". I will tell you "ENOUGH" if I have made my decision. Even if you disagree with my decision, implement WHAT I SPECIFY! If I am proved wrong later, you can enjoy telling me that I was wrong.
If you ignore me and you are wrong, you will NOT enjoy it, believe me!
I. YOU MUST KEEP REASONABLE OFFICE HOURS.
You are in ONE PLACE all the time, so you have no excuse to have your circadian rhythms totally screwed up. It is unacceptable to show up after 11:00 on a regular basis! It is ALSO not acceptable to "disappear" for long breaks in the middle of the day! Once or twice a month is not a big deal, but you <must> be in the office on a regular basis before noon.
Preferable office hours are 10:00 to 19:00. It’s okay to be in the office earlier or later, but <EVERYONE> should be in the office between the hours of 11:00 and 18:00 every day. If you arrive at 11:00, you are expected to stay until at least 20:00.
THERE ARE <NO> EXCEPTIONS. A log book will be maintained where you should enter your entry and exit times, and the Director will be responsible for sending us the data from that book. Tardiness or fewer hours ALONE will not cause severe problems, but if we find that someone is not showing up for regular office hours AND their performance is bad, there will be consequences.
EVERYONE is required to work IN the office, unless otherwise agreed with us.
K. NO GAMES OR INTERNET DURING OFFICE HOURS
There should be NO playing of games or non-work-related browsing of the Internet until after 7pm. You sign OUT of the office if you are going to start playing games or using the Internet for non-work-related reasons. If someone asks you a work-related question, you must STOP browsing the Internet or playing games and ANSWER that question (sign back into the office if it will take you a significant amount of time)! If you are in the office and using office resources, you are subject to having to WORK in the office!
L. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR OFFICE SECURITY!
If computers or equipment are stolen, we will realize that Belarus is not a serious place to do business, and we will go elsewhere. I suggest that you take all prudent steps to defend your jobs and equipment. If you feel that there are people who would be willing to steal from the office at the cost of your jobs, then you should take steps to avoid those people gaining entry/access/keys to the office.
M. THIS IS A BUSINESS, NOT A SOCIAL CLUB.
You are all here to make money. If this business makes money, you will all get along fine. If someone’s behavior is causing you personally a problem, then you can report that to me. If your complaints are reasonable and relate to professional problems (such as tardiness or non-performance of duties), then we will take action. If your complaints are more personal (you don't like someone’s tone of voice or outlook on life), then it will remain your personal problem and you will have to deal with it yourself.
N. PERFORMANCE AND RESULTS COUNT, BUT SO DOES ATTITUDE
Performance and Results will be the MAJOR indicators of who is doing things well and who is doing things badly. Attitude certainly also plays a role, however: we need people for whom anything is POSSIBLE, not people for whom everything is IMPOSSIBLE!
O. YOU WILL ALL SUCCEED OR FAIL TOGETHER.
Focus on your work, on delivering the tasks and product, and on keeping me informed about everything. Nothing else matters; all other issues will be resolved easily if tasks and product are delivered according to my requests and schedules I communicate to you!
P. <EVERYONE> MUST CARE ABOUT VERSIONS DELIVERY
It is version delivery that will prompt payment! You must focus on making sure that <you> deliver what is required for each version! If your work requires cooperation and work from others, and you feel that you are not getting it, you should report this to us! If people don't perform according to their schedule or if their non-performance affects your performance, they will be penalized.
Q. IF YOU PRICK ME, DO I NOT BLEED? PLAN OR LOSE YOUR VACATIONS!
If you get sick, you must call the office to indicate how long the illness might last and what delays in your task delivery will result!
Also, you must inform everyone by e-mail of your vacation plans at least FOUR WEEKS IN ADVANCE to allow coordinated work. Any absence of less than 2 days can be reported with just 2 days notice! If you have a family emergency requiring vacation time, please e-mail everyone for what period you will be unavailable. A family emergency is the ONLY acceptable exception to this rule! If you don’t use vacations in any calendar year, you LOSE them (unless explicitly asked to accept compensation instead of vacations)!
